Climate Change and Energy Transition

Go to content

The climate crisis is the greatest environmental challenge of our time. Since signing the Paris Agreement in 2015, the European Union has committed to achieving climate neutrality by 2050, a goal that requires profound transformations in the current economic model as well as decisive action in the energy transition.

In this context, with the implementation of the European Green Deal and the “Fit for 55” package, the EU has set ambitious emissions reduction targets across all economic sectors. Regulations related to energy and climate have also been updated to speed up the energy transition and address the climate crisis.

In turn, Spain has a strategic energy and climate framework since 2021 and a specific climate change law, developed by each autonomous community. Additionally, due to its cross-cutting nature, climate change directly influences sector-specific regulation, conditioning public policies in numerous areas.

The need to comply with constantly evolving climate regulations presents challenges for businesses and public administrations.
